The New Shale Economy

As far as I can see it there are only two realistic roads to...
'The New Shale Economy'!
1. The first, and more obvious route would be to gather all of the old people in the world, and amalgamate them into a giant shale farm. All of their shaley dander would be collected, then nano-bots could stitch together the trillions of minute flakes into full sized moist shale-ettes for popular consumption.
2. The second route would be to clone and grow enormous scalps, 10000 times normal size, dehydrate them so that they are properly flakey, then pay migrant workers a pittance to harvest the already serviette sized shale flakes.
Ahoy! Do you also see 'The New Shale Economy' on the horizon? Do you have alternative scenarios (not yet mentioned) that could help bring it to pass?
